Retail Market Research: Lollipop Trade Survey

Brief
A leading manufacturer of consumer goods in West Africa, widely known for importation and manufacturing of FMCG, consulted Webhaptic Intelligence to gain insights into the current usage and sales of lollipops in Lagos State, Nigeria, as part of their retail market research initiative.

Approach
The survey aimed to assess the numerical distribution of lollipops, including pricing dynamics and leading brand preferences within the lollipop retailers. Additionally, the research aimed to comprehend the factors influencing retailers’ decisions in selecting which lollipops to stock. Webhaptic Intelligence carried out the project using the quantitative face-to-face interviewing methodology using a structured questionnaire. The data was collected using the CAPI devices via the Survey to go platform. The survey was carried out in four locations in Lagos State – Alimosho, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Mushin, among retailers of lollipops.

Impact
The Lollipop Trade Survey provided valuable retail market research insights for the client into the current usage and sales of lollipops, as well as the pricing dynamics and leading brand preferences within the lollipop retailer segment. It also identified the factors that influence retailers’ decisions in selecting which lollipops to stock. The client therefore used this information to inform decision-making.
