Baseline data collection on Tamasheq Language

Brief
An artificial intelligence (AI) company sought to develop a new language model for the Tamasheq language, which is spoken by the Tuareg people of Niger and Mali. Webhaptic Intelligence was commissioned for the project to collect a large amount of language data from native speakers of Tamasheq.

Approach
A voice recognition project was conducted in Niger and Mali to collect data on Tamasheq language. The project targeted 480 people who could converse fluently in Tamasheq. The data was collected through a series of phone calls. Each call lasted for a minimum of 60 minutes, and both the caller and the recipient had to speak Tamasheq. The calls were recorded and the audio data was then analyzed.

Impact
Webhaptic Intelligence delivered high-quality voice data from native speakers of Tamasheq, which the client used in developing a voice recognition system for the Tamasheq language.
